Square Film
Experimental story lab focused on performance, improvisation, and narrative development.

Square Film was a workshop series exploring hands-on, collaborative approaches to storytelling. Originally conceived as a way to instil a regular, time-boxed filmmaking discipline, the sessions ran in Brighton between 2012 and 2016 with a rotating group of local performers and filmmakers.
What began as a relatively open format evolved into a space for performance, direction, and idea incubation. Participants devised and developed scenes in small groups, which were then filmed. Over time, the process became more structured, with some stories and characters developed further in a production setting.
The first spin-off short, Red Curtains, was completed in 2013, followed by Out There in 2016, which was later screened at Cine-City Brighton Film Festival.
